eTACCHE (eTwinning Across Cultures: Collaborative Heritage Education) is a three-year Erasmus+ project that brings together five teacher education institutions from Germany, Estonia, Israel, Greece, and Romania. Together, we are reimagining how cultural heritage is taught, shared, and experienced across schools and universities in Europe and beyond.
The project was born from a shared recognition: that in today’s world of digital transformation, cultural diversity, and educational change, students and teachers need new ways to engage with culture and identity. eTACCHE is designed to meet this challenge. By integrating cultural heritage into teacher education and school learning through eTwinning—the EU’s collaborative learning platform—we aim to foster intercultural dialogue, digital fluency, and inclusive teaching.
Our consortium includes leading institutions in education, technology-enhanced learning, and heritage studies: Ludwigsburg University of Education (Germany), Gordon Academic College of Education (Israel), Tallinn University (Estonia), the University of Crete (Greece), and the University of Oradea (Romania). Each brings a unique set of expertise, and together we are building something greater than the sum of its parts.
eTACCHE supports student teachers, in-service teachers, and teacher educators in creating and implementing collaborative heritage education projects using digital tools and platforms. Our work includes:
Developing 30+ eTwinning project kits—5 by teacher educators and 25 by student teams—focused on tangible and intangible heritage.
Designing and piloting immersive virtual learning environments, including 3D and 360° VR tours of cultural sites created with CoSpaces, Thinglink, and ClassVR.
Delivering multilingual webinars and training sessions for practicing teachers to learn how to use eTwinning for cultural and digital learning.
Hosting international virtual exchanges (COIL) among student teachers who co-develop and test their own kits in real classrooms.
All of our outputs are shared as Open Educational Resources (OERs) on the European School Education Platform (ESEP), ensuring that educators across Europe and beyond can use, adapt, and build upon our work.
Through project-based learning, cross-border collaboration, and immersive storytelling, we are making cultural education more engaging, accessible, and future-ready.
At its core, eTACCHE is about breaking down barriers—between countries, disciplines, and generations. We believe cultural heritage is not just about the past—it is a living, evolving story that shapes who we are and how we relate to one another. In an age where misinformation, exclusion, and cultural fragmentation are on the rise, education has a critical role to play in fostering understanding, empathy, and shared values.
By blending digital transformation with cultural education, our project promotes inclusion, innovation, and empowerment in schools and teacher training institutions. We equip educators and learners with the tools to explore heritage in meaningful ways, challenge stereotypes, and build intercultural connections.
Our vision is for a Europe where all students can connect through cultural stories, discover shared histories, and participate in co-creating new narratives. Through eTACCHE, we are creating the conditions for that vision to take root—one teacher, one classroom, one project at a time.
This is education for a connected world.
This is cultural heritage, reimagined.
